FAQ
Why should I join? And how much does it cost?
PTA offers all parents and caregivers the opportunity to be engaged in supporting their child’s potential. Being a member of the PTA means that you are part of a group that is focused on programs and initiatives that strengthen your child’s education.
ORLA’s PTA believes in access for all. It absolutely takes financial resources to support our students, educators and ORLA’s physical spaces. However, we also believe in allowing everyone to choose the best or most appropriate membership level for themselves. If folks who can pay a little more do, it will empower others to pay a little less when they need to. The outcome? Everyone will be able to feel part of our wonderful community—and we’ll be able to support our kids too. We have a suggested donation of $20 for an individual membership and $40 for a family, but we welcome everyone at any level. If making a donation is not accessible for you at this time, we’d still love to have you. Please click here to join at no cost.
Join ORLA’s PTA for your child because increasing our membership, even by one, makes it possible to provide important resources, speak up on important issues and create a stronger community.
Where does my money go?
PTA membership dues support your child by funding educational and curriculum needs; advocating on behalf of ORLA children and educators at the local and state levels; and building an inclusive school community for all families.
Does PTA membership require volunteering? How much time do I have to commit to being a member of the PTA?
The only thing required of you to be a member of ORLA’s PTA is to sign up. Beyond that, however, you can choose how involved with the PTA is reasonable for you. You can volunteer at school events or after school clubs, work to help maintain the school gardens, attend OSD school board meetings as an advocate, help increase the flow of communication and needs between ORLA educators and the PTA. If you have any special skills or talents that you think could be an asset please let us know. Or you can just show your support by becoming a PTA member.
Isn’t the PTA a social club for stay-at-home parents?
Not at all. The PTA is for every family who has a child at ORLA. PTA members can be moms, dads, caregivers, grandparents, teachers and the broader community.
While some PTA events, like movie nights and winter fair, are organized to strengthen the school community through social connection. The majority of the PTA’s work is focused on funding essential school needs and advocacy.
