Are You Interested in Archery?

We’re excited to announce that ORLA PTA is working to start a National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) in the upcoming spring semester, and we need your help! Thanks to a generous grant, we’ve secured the necessary equipment, and the school administration has given the green light to move forward. Now, we’re looking for volunteers who are passionate about archery—or simply want to be part of a new and exciting initiative—to assist with the program.

Archery will be offered as both a hConnect class and an after-school club, providing students with multiple opportunities to engage with the sport. Our instructor, Jenn Updyke, is a credentialed teacher and a beginner archer herself, eager to guide students as they explore this exciting skill. Whether you’re an experienced archer or completely new to the sport, we’d love for you to get involved!

We are particularly seeking volunteers who can assist during classes or club sessions. You don’t need to be an expert in archery to help—just a willingness to learn and share the experience with students. For those who want to become more involved, we’re encouraging volunteers to complete the Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) course, which will be offered as a hybrid online and in-person experience. This will equip you with the skills to support the program, and potentially step in as a substitute if needed.

The BAI course will be scheduled for December, so we can hit the ground running when the program launches in February. If you’re excited about giving students the opportunity to learn a new skill, connect with others, and engage in experiential learning, we’d love to have you on board.
